The BBC Chameleon Thread

With the new BBC article about Ireland's Eurovision entrant, they have now updated their Eurovisioncast promo picture, thankfully.

If it had been a totally new and dissimilar design from its predecessor, as was the case in 1997, then I'm sure that something more like the quick blanket rollout we saw back then would have also happened this time round.

If anything the design being similar means it should have been even more of a priority to replace it across the board ASAP to justify the change.   Continuing to use the old version so widely 18 months on only plays into the hands of the "why spend millions on a new logo that's the same?" brigade.

That’s very true, especially when the children’s channels, Parliament and Weather (on screen) are still using the old logo. Maybe they should have changed the logo for something completely different.

Or they should not have changed it at all

I do wonder if people at the BBC read any of our waffle about the logo and branding inconsistencies and stuff.

There seems to be a lot of complaining about it here (and on Clean Feed's Twitter) and then a sudden and highly coincidental update of the branding.

Let's produce a list of outstanding logo swaps and see how quickly they change...  Big Grin

Eurovisioncast? What a clunky name.

You can have Eurocast or Eurovision Podcast, but putting two suffixes on just sounds messy.

You do know it follows on from their series of podcasts... Brexitcast, Newscast, Ukrainecast. It's produced by BBC News like the rest and has a relative logistical link to Ukrainecast.

Eurocast would sound like it's about the EU again.

Yes, I know. I still think it’s a clunky name that doesn’t work.

Yes, so clunky. Should have gone for "The Eurovision Song Contest - Liverpool 2023 Podcast". Rolls off the tongue much easier.
