AM: Wake Up Call was the first time in several years that CNN Domestic had its own live programming before 6am. It launched toward the end of the American Morning era after John Roberts left, followed not too long after by Kiran Chetry. Ali Velshi did Wake Up Call from the newsroom flash cam mostly solo, and then American Morning had a weird and short-lived three-anchor couch format. I believe Ali, Christine, and Carol Costello were the final not-so-official anchors.
Then they blew it all up in 2012 with Early Start from 5-7 and Starting Point from 7-9. Christine was featured heavily as a business correspondent when Early Start launched, though I don't think she was named anchor until after Zoraida Sambolin left. IIRC, I think ginnyfan is correct in that CNNI never carried Early Start until in more recent years.

Early Start started to air on CNN International as part of the regular schedule on 1 July 2019. That was after the 2019 cutbacks. They aired the first hour (4am ET/ 9AM BST) , followed by the long running repeat of Amanpour and other taped things at 5AMET /10AM BST. They also canned CNN Talk and News Stream, putting a CNN Newsroom with Max at 8AMET/1PM BST and World Sport at 8:30/1:30pm. New Day was then simulcasted for 2 hours instead of one , the first hour was added when they replaced "CNN Money View".
Also to make sure, I went to find some sources and here's the schedule from June 25

AM: American Morning really was the best name CNN has had for their domestic breakfast show. Uniquely theirs. Was a mistake of whatshisname to go with this Morning and not a return to AM.

Today's State Of The Union was not presented by either Jake Tapper or Dana Bash but by Kasie Hunt instead who I think is presenting for the first time since she went on maternity leave. Good to see her back.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I still think of the tagline "The Most News in the Mornings" when I think of American Morning. The AM studio with the newsroom view was one of my favorite sets. It was a shame when they walled off the newsroom for Early Start and then let the set deteriorate during the final years at Time Warner Center. Relaunching American Morning and creating a newsier set would be a good move if they wanted to move away from CNN This Morning.

The alternate newsroom set used for Wake Up Call was also one of my favorite newsroom down the line positions. Wish they'd bring this back to New York and create one in Atlanta at Techwood. The new London newsroom fixed shot is okay, but I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more depth.

Seeing an old cap of Kaitlan Collins anchoring Early Start doesn't feel real. This must have been right when she started?

Maybe when they pick new full time hosts, they can expand Early Start back to 2 hours!
Overnight would handle 12-4, Early Start team would handle 4-6. It's the same thing you're advocating, but with Max and Bianca instead of a new anchor. I'm sure the team would be able to adapt to new guidelines. Pretty much every team has had to learn something new within the past 12 months. If Max and Bianca switched to a newsroom backdrop (seeing as it is the name of the show) it'd basically look like Early Start.

Dyan Byers has 'knowledge' that Rahel Solomon will take over as anchor of Early Start.

That wouldn't be a bad thing. Rahel has really proved herself to be a very good anchor.
