Yep, if there's any doubt about it's reliability then better to delay than launch and tarnish the brand on Day 1. With them not making a big deal of the World Cup on ITVX then it lessens the impact even if there are teething issues come the QF onwards (the BBC have the semi-final and final anyway so no issues there even if it is England).
The press release says "ITVX will be rolling out across devices and platforms in the coming weeks" so it may be gradual - throw it to Sky Glass customers or something first and go from there.
It does make ITV1 an interesting question - depending on the trail design it may be trickier/unnecessary headache to slap the ITV Hub logo on it for a few weeks. Would love to know how they're squaring that circle.

Yes, I read the full press release the same way - ITVX will be appearing gradually in the coming weeks on devices and it's 8 December when all the ITVX exclusives drop - as in I'd be surprised if the app and website wasn't available on all devices before 8 December so people can watch then.

I still think it's ok for ITV 1 to relaunch now. It will give a bit of time before the launch of ITV X and start to place ITV name as the masterbrand only again.
Exactly as you say, lets just hope that the tape holding the ITV Hub together can cope under the weight of the World Cup - having struggle immensely and been a nightmare to use during most of the big matches last year during the Euros - until ITVX is ready to launch in December

The new itv logos have been used on the new Freesat HD channels, although itv is still itv and +1s are still using the old logos for now.

Seeing the new logo beside the old +1 logo just highlights how poor these new logos look in comparison.

I don't know I think they look alright.
They obviously haven't provided any +1 versions.
