Definitely an improvement, however I still find it very much worse than the original desk this set came with. It just looks... out of place, I guess. The colours don't really match and the curved shape of the old desk just fits better with the whole design of the set, in my opinion.

Thank you for this! Some other additions too such as the wood…looks better, just not my favourite desk in the world.

The mega desk has been shrunk.

It certainly looks better when interviewing guests, the size of the previous one was a little ridiculous to say the least. I guess it was brought in for social distancing?

I can see they have decided to paint part of it brown to match the wood? I'm not so sure about that decision!

I think they need to reset the camera angle of the two presenters as St Paul's Cathedral was behind Susanna this morning rather than being in the middle.

The updated mini-mega-desk is a welcome improvement now things are getting back to normal, but this original desk, after the studio moved to TV Centre, fitted in so much better with the overall set design.

Nice of them to let Susanna's seldom seen clone out for the day. Gets a bit stuffy in that cellar.

On a serious note, the new (or perhaps 'altered' is a better word) desk is an improvement on its ginormous predecessor, however I still feel slightly uneasy about its asymmetrical design and wish the 'newsreader' section jutted out as far as the 'contributor' section, but perhaps that's just me being a bit of a weirdo.

As an aside, I asked Stuart what did they do with the removed segment? Did it end up in someone’s garage?

Which reminded me, over at the Blue Place, someone ended up with a former BBC News desk, and kept the same in their garage. Was it Charlie Wells? Can’t quite remember.

But on a more serious note: what DO they do with such a bespoke segment? Is it melted down to be reused? Or shuffled off to Peston?

Not me, that was Bail who has/had a BBC News desk from the TVC sale.

Formerly 'Charlie Wells' of TV Forum.
