I imagine these three shows have a lot more resources than Sky News Tonight did, but is the end product worth it?
I think it is, and the change was deliberate by the looks of it. The Dermot show was pretty dry, nowhere ratings wise and Sky News was/is also losing share to GB News in the evenings, so this is a way of shaking it up while staying true to the channel's values.
I'd say the UK Tonight is the weak spot as I'm not sure who's seeking out a UK news programme at 8pm? It's also had no newsmaking interviews so far, whereas the Politics Hub at least has the potential to do that in the run-up to the UK and US general elections.
I like the changes myself and don't doubt they'll go to rolling news mode during any of these programmes anyway. Interesting how the feeling on here was that they were stripping down the channel and switching focus to the website but there's a clear 180 degree turn since Ryley left. Not sure if it'll have any effect on the ratings though.
