I thought the 'fold' was blatantly obvious in that cap posted earlier.

Whilst the backdrop looks a lot better than the previous version, without any branding it does rather look like they are in a temporary OB studio suspended in mid air! Given how realistic the view looks, it seems a bit odd to make it a still image rather than a proper moving backdrop.

I personally think it would look better with some additional elements - ie the view is part of the backdrop, not necessarily the only element.

The desk also looks much closer to the screen than before, so I’m imagining they want to use the other side of the studio which faces out on to the newsroom for something? Would be very strange to completely refurbish the newsroom and then not utilise it from their main studio.

It wouldn't be that strange, given there is only one windowed side to the Millbank studio and the view from that would be onto the temporary newsroom set (and the bland walls behind it)

I really hope this refreshed main Westminster set doesn't mean the end of the newsroom set. It'd be a shame to loose that view. I wonder if there's a wall between the two sets or would they be able to used together?

I think there are actually two, the one that has had the striped frosted panels on it (viewable from the newsroom set) and another round the corner, which would directly into the newsroom, and at that wide screen at the back. So presumably, if they wanted to make use of that view by moving the desks, or adding a sofa etc, they could do. I was hoping for a round desk, but it would appear that won't be the case.

I knew I took these screengabs a year ago for a reason.

Assuming the video wall is in the same position, then I think there might be a way to have a presentation setup with the desk in the studio turned 90/135 degrees to have a main anchor backdrop of the newsroom and the right side video panel. I'd be interested to see how that would look.

If you look in the bottom right corner of this image under the camera autocue, could that be a podium or desk for a Pres location overlooking the newsroom?

I think you might be right, it does appear to be something there that looks like the new wood style, also partially illuminated.

As expected, the extension of the new Westminster desk can be removed to make a similar desk to the previous setup...

New screens really showing their value, and the lack of lightboxes making it much more immersive... and if this eclipse special is anything to go by, Yalda's show will also come from the refreshed studio from now on, also as mentioned earlier in the thread

The sad part is the background they use for the THE WORLD is really bad it lets down the use of these high quality screens. They really need a nicer graphic in back ground. Maybe a slightly animated version with globe very slowly turning. The current version up close doesnt resemble the planet, it looks like static. Hopefully they re-think that.

Maybe wait till the show moves into its permanent home? I don’t know.
