I often enjoyed it, does anyone know if his Christmas Day show will continue?
I'm pretty sure he's finished with Radio 2 permanently.
Scott Mills always did Christmas Day live on Radio 1, I wonder if he could take the slot?

The scheduled Sara Cox drivetime show didn't materialise today - Sara wasn't feeling well. So...we got an extra hour of Steve Wright. Adele Roberts took over at 6pm

I was listening and it felt like Wright was almost out of his depth - how to fill air time? He seemed lost without his own show's structure and just played the playlist. A skilled professional? Supposedly.

I listened in to see what it'd be like and I was quite underwhelmed too - it's fair enough to trail ahead to other shows on Radio 2 but at one point he was basically reading out the evening's BBC One schedule as well!

It reminds me of a time that Chris Moyles stayed on air at Radio 1 to cover for (I believe) Fearne Cotton, but he tackled it in his stride despite having none of his team to bounce off.

I think Vanessa just slipped in a plug for her new Talk TV drive time show at the end of her last show on Radio 2 just now, including a plug to listen on DAB+ just before being cut off by the news jingle...

It happened a few times, once when Jo Whiley fell off air from Glastonbury during the handover due to the weather and another occasion when Sara Cox was due to cover for Jo but was unavailable - I want to say due to an ill kid. On those occasions his team stayed on.
You might be thinking of the time when he covered for Greg James on lunchtime for a couple of days, but he did have Greg's producer Laura to banter with.

Nothing particularly unusual here. Don't think there was any objection to her plug at the end. The news sting is regularly cued badly on Radio 2, with presenters talking over practically all of it.

BBC Radio 2 has had an audio refresh today with Vernon joining the station. There are new style jingles which showcase the stations talent at the top of the hour.
