And from a TV perspective, the benefits for the viewer are undoubted. The animations of the offside decisions are widely shared on social media, and give levels of confidence to offside decisions we've not seen before. Definitely a headscratcher.
Apparently the Premier League would only have introduced UEFA's version of automated offside rather than FIFA's. The FIFA version (as seen in Qatar) has a chip in the ball and is faster and more accurate, but also far more expensive. Still the UEFA system is better than the human VAR system of currently.
