The Victoria bid itself was quite last minute, with Birmingham only have five years notice to host 2022 following the removal of Durban as hosts. Since 2002 the Games have got into a slightly concerning holding pattern of alternating between British and Australian hosts (bar 2010) and I wouldn't imagine many other Commonwealth nations would be willing or able to host either.
There's talk of a few other suggested hosts, most notably Birmingham who reportedly would have been keen to host back-to-back editions if Victoria hadn't have come forward. Obviously time, or the lack of, will be a major factor in what potential hosts would feel adequate in getting venues and infrastructure in order in time. Qatar used to be a former British protectorate and I've heard they're keen on hosting sporting events - maybe they can be rushed into the movement and host (joking).
Somewhere in the Middle East will probably host the Olympics in 2036 and I’m not joking.
