Remember that those in Scotland cannot use ITVX in any way at all, due to the specific circumstances of STV Group being an independent company that is an affiliate of ITV, allowing STV to show ITV programming. The STV Player has no live stream support whatsoever [beyond live feeds of STV and STV+1], and that would open up ITV to accusations of deliberately blocking access to the sport from Scottish viewers. YouTube is a neutral platform which can be geoblocked to only UK and Ireland viewers, so I can understand why they put it there.
Admin edit: as clarified in a subsequent post, ITVX is in fact available in Scotland, though ITV 1-specific content is generally available on the STV Player only, in Scotland.
