I think I've seen a suggestion that Premier Sports have made a profit from this (no numbers mentioned in any reports though). I think they get back more content than they sold off, with some rights like the European Tour darts and hockey already owned by Viaplay before they brought Premier Sports UK (and the next portion of the UEFA international rights of course).
For the consumer, I doubt much will really change. Neither Premier nor Viaplay put much effort into most of their content (world feed only coverage for almost anything). I think Premier was cheaper 13 months ago than Viaplay now (due to the non-sport content)? Both haven't got the best reputation from subscribers in terms of the broadcast quality of their output from what I've seen.
On a seperate but similar trajectory, what happened to the Premier Sports Ireland Twitter/X account? It launched in May, posted very frequently then hasn't posted since late July (last tweet below). Less than 500 followers too. The (very overdue at launch) website seems to still be working and up-to-date though.
