The Sport Thread - For stuff not worthy of a thread of its own

Tennis' Netflix series Break Point will not be returning for a third series.
It does feel like the era of the sports behind-the-scenes doccumentaries has gone past the peak.

Like the Six Nations one that is something that should interest me but just doesn't - they're basically features which feel a year out of date by the time they air.

Why is the fight so late in the night in both the host country and the country of both fighters.

No idea. It was the same with the snooker in the same city earlier in the week, with some matches not starting until after 11pm UK time.
(For the record, the ringwalks began around 00:15 GMT/03:15 local)

Saudi Arabia don't make it easy to endear themselves to sports fans with odd scheduling and extra gimmicks like the snooker golden ball. And then there's the country's record.

Not that strange, is it? Plenty of fights in the US have the graphics of their host broadcaster on the UK domestic feed. Arguably it's a smart move by DAZN given they operate in some of the territories it's being shown.

Do like that this week (and next to an extent) has both Six Nations matches on the same channel back-to-back. It is nice not having to change channel, or miss the start or end of either broadcast. This a rare occurence in this agreement, though happened almost every time when the BBC and ITV had equal split.

To the presentation, and the ITV porgramme info is suggesting that ITV has returned additional pitchside presentation for the upcoming England matches. Today has three pundits alongside Mark Pougatch 'in the studio' with two others pitchside; with this at Twickenham it feels unlikely this will be hosted from Ealing. It is similar next week, but a bit more understandable if the dead rubber France v. England is presented from the studio rather than Lyon.

With Ireland likely being the main story and winning the Grand Slam next weekend, the current plan has Mark Pougatch hosting Ireland v. Scotland, though Nick Mullins remains on the England match. Jill Douglas with a rare chance to host an England game.

Over on the BBC, I'm sure everyone across Twitter and elsewhere will be delighted that Jonathan Davies will be in the commentary box for both of their remaining matches. The blurb for the Wales v. Italy match not really helping him out by describing him as a 'Five Nations winner'.

Strange in the sense I’ve never seen Dazn boxing on sky sports box office considering there’s already a Dazn Uk. There must still be a clause in Joshua’s contract which allows his fights to be shown on Sky.

And next year's men's Six Nations fixtures have just been published. The tournament will open on Friday January 31st in Paris and conclude at the same venue on the 15th of March.

No news yet on where this will be broadcasted.
