Those bids didn't really get off the ground though as the IOC gave it to Brisbane before other cities even really knew the process had begun.
It does seem it was just a wobble by Brisbane and ultimately it's too expensive to forfeit. Will certainly be a step down from Paris and LA though - arguably not a bad thing but they won't want to risk another Atlanta, and the Olympic Stadium will be half the size of the 110,000 Sydney held. Ultimately though the Aussies love their sport and by the time it comes around all this will be forgotten.
