I think compared to others lured over by the likes of GB News he was more respectful of where he came from - there is nothing there that many from within the BBC have also been saying over the last couple of years. Ultimately though this feels like a story to beat the BBC with as either way the BBC can be accused of discrimination.

Re: the ‘benched’ presenters - please bear in mind that no one here knows the full facts of why they’re off air. It’s presumably not as simple as just putting them back on, and there is clearly some sort of process ongoing with them behind the scenes.

I’ve just checked the schedule for the World feed and they appeared to opt out for their own programming tonight around 10:10pm, which might explain why we were getting more time checks etc. The balcony area is never used at weekends (which I totally agree still looks awful).
Ah, I see, so all of that didn’t go out on the global feed. I wasn’t quite sure if it was UK-only, as it felt like it was but these things are difficult to tell on “feel” alone. I must have not realised there was an opt point at 10:10pm.
Interesting that 11pm is the regular weekend Washington switch, I am sure I have seen several times where it happened at 10pm at weekends but that might have been due to prominent US news such as Trump arraignments being covered?
I think there is at least the technical capability to broadcast from Studio C or E on either channel (like the good old days!) so theoretically opt-outs can come from the spare studio on weekends. I suppose we haven’t seen that tested yet as we haven’t had a big UK-only story breaking on a weekend yet.

It sounds like a right HR mess if they do employ Simon.

It’s the Daily Mail probably best to take it with a pinch of salt, click bait article.

The technical capability is still there, only what was the news channel don’t seem to be allowed either studio C or E only the balcony studio.

It's 2200 on Fridays - could that be what you are thinking off? 0200 UK Time Monday morning though before Washington is usually on air on Sunday nights
In summary the usual Washington times are (ignoring taped back half hours):
Mon-Thu: 2200-2300, 0200-0500 UK time
Fri: 2200-0500
Sat: 2300-0500
Sun: 0200-0500 Monday morning UK time
Or viewed another way:
0200-0500 daily
2200-2300 Mon-Fri
2300-0200 Fri+Sat (Sat+Sun in Singapore)

As posted by JamesWorldNews in the movers & shakers thread Simon McCoy has denied the tabloid rumours.

Well that’s over. Must be a slow news day over at the DM! I would have thought they had something, not just based on a photo! What a lot of rot!

Shame, he would give the News Channel the humour and personality it currently lacks

Yes, I think that must have been exactly what I was thinking of! I was aware that Newsday only aired Monday-Friday, Singapore mornings (and was therefore a Sunday night to Thursday night programme, speaking from a UK-perspective).
I don’t think I realised that Friday night was treated slightly differently to Saturday night, though. I suppose that’s more due to shift patterns in NBH.
Thank you for confirming the various broadcasting hours, sorry for the mistake.
