BBC News Pres: Apr 2023 - Present (News Channel/BBC One)

That can be easily fixed by amending the Newsnight templates surely? Bet it takes months.

They went straight to Newsnight after a filler, leaving one to wonder where they will put announced Sports update.

That’s a good point, there is a sport headline (if you watch the Ten on the News Channel) and a spot for Sportsday on Huw’s wall of colleagues, but now no actual sports bulletin?

Although watching back he did just say “In sport..” and then read a headline rather than “Coming up in Sportsday on the BBC News Channel” suggesting the single sports headline in the headlines was all you were getting.

There isn't one until 0:45.

They have set themselves a trap with the timings between 22:00 and 0:00 - they are lucky that Newsnight very rarely starts on time.
What happens if they decide to extend the Ten or when there's over-running sport or other live event on BBC One?

They should put a sports update in after the Ten o'clock news, and show Newsnight on delay at 22:50.  They can then drop the sports update if needed.
I guess they will show WNA if the Ten gets extended or delayed…

The next Sportsday on the World feed is at 23.45. They are currently showing Hardtalk which is on the UK feed at 23.30.

The Sportsday section on Huw’s wall was actually empty with no presenter? So a little strange they didn’t remove it?

According to the schedules, there are showing WNA this Friday as it is Easter holidays and the 10 will be only 20 minutes long.

They are still struggling to fill that wall after two regions got axed.

newsnight on the NC makes sense. I suspect increased viewers. I’d literally never tune into bbc2 for it

The searing white mega ticker/flipper really stands out like a sore thumb on Newsnight

It really does feel like a World takeover of the NC with some token opt-outs as we saw this afternoon with the cupboard studio opt-out.

The UK version is basically a sub-opt of what was BBC World News and that's a shame.

If you like international news, great.  If you want rolling UK news, Sky News it is.

France 24 has an easier job at mixing international and domestic as they don't have to cater to a domestic audience. The French channel is only simulcast overnight on franceinfo: and I don't even think they have a dedicated channel in the Paris-Ile de France area anymore (which was introduced to cater to mostly to visitors/business travellers/hotels).

As a result they are positioned clearly as an international news channel with a focus on French domestic news and the Francophone regions of the world. The new BBC News channel's focus is a little less clear.
