BT Sport

BT's results out today, the JV made a £123m loss last year and that it had underperformed against business plan

Seems to have followed the same trajectory as all of the other mid 2010s "telcos getting into media instead of investing in the core business" efforts have transpired. Meanwhile they're full steam ahead on fibre (and arguably should have started back then instead of going into sports at all)

Interesting report as I was very much thinking they would have kept everything the same as now in front of the camera. One factual error in the article (which could affect ine's view on the accuracy of the report) is that Lynsey Hipgrave has been part of BT Sport since launch, rather than joining last summer to host the Premier League coverage (a role which she did start doing full time this season); likewise the article fails to mentions Woods' work with DAZN, which is argubally more frequent than her work with ITV and is believed to be a part in her leaving Sky completely.

Will affect ITV as she was expected to become their main football host within a couple of years.  Back to drawing Board for them.

Not hugely surprising - Whisper seems to get every sports contract going now so suspect that's more than enough work/income for him.

"Stepping back" says to me that he's leaving the door open for the occasional appearance. Time will tell!

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here, but TNT Sports' rugby coverage will be produced by Buzz16, not a company with much live sport under their belt: www.ruck.co.uk

I've also heard that all the football will be produced in-house. BT's Premier League, Europa League and Europa Conference League (as well as the rugby) has been produced by Sunset+Vine since launch.

Obviously contracts come to an end and other factors are in play but this does somewhat feel like Discovery's hands on proceedings and their desire to cut costs at every corner.
