At the time people were complaining, we were still in a vague "major incident" phase where there would be no advantage to rolling coverage as there was nothing further to discuss except for speculation. Nobody would argue with the fact that it now needs to be covered, since further details have been released by police.

10.30 and still no BBC correspondent with a camera crew on the scene yet, which is quite poor when the amount of resources the BBC has in that area. Where’s the national and regional correspondents? They are currently using a radio Nottingham reporter using her iPhone. (She’s doing a great job btw)

Is that not what the new BBC News Channel is all about? Local resources from teams that live and work there. I know people don't like the new BBC News, but I think I do - it seems more live and raw

Who is this who's hosting on the BBC? Also is the international version of BBC News carrying the coverage?

The incident is, unsurprisingly, making headlines internationally now.
Here's RTVE's 'Hablando Claro' (literally 'Speaking Clearly'; or more idiomatically, 'Straight Talk') interviewing a gentleman, delightfully credited on the super as 'Spaniard in Nottingham':

BBC News (world) has been following its own coverage of other global stories. The Nottingham incident was mentioned in headlines, as well as in end-of-bulletin wrap-ups (e.g. image below), but no rolling coverage.
...but nothing on the ticker/flipper which has, as usual, been uselessly scrolling through the same three headlines over and over again:
Channel 4 News also have boots on the ground in Nottingham; this eyewitness report from shortly after 10am.

I've always said something like this would make or break GBNews and it has coped surprisingly well.
If i recall they were first with the phone footage and eye witness. Quite measured in their reporting unlike TalkTV which just seemed to be reeling every tidbit from Twitter.
