I suspect decisions like this are made on more of a basis than the humble opinion of whoever’s in charge’s though. If Kay is a draw, it makes sense to put her name in the title of the show.

Well I think doing what they do with the News Hour is the way to go, it’s “The News Hour with Mark Austin” on screen, on titles, listings etc but when Mark isn’t there it’s just the “The News Hour”.

Kay’s programme has always been rather odd as they never actually call it “Kay Burley” but that’s the way it’s listed and branded. Kay never welcomes people to ‘Kay Burley’ or do other presenters call it as such. So when Jayne Secker or Anna Jones etc are filling in, there’s a big background displaying “Kay Burley” but no one actually mentions the programme title, or indeed that they’re covering for Kay.

When Sarah-Jane’s away there’s the rather odd introduction of “This is the Sarah-Jane Mee Show. I’m Kimberley Leonard” which sounds rather ridiculous but at least they’ve made reference that they’re not Sarah-Jane! On the note I wonder if they continue to present to 2pm-5pm mostly with Standing presentation or if it’s going to revert to behind mostly sat down at the desk since all three daytime programmes are sharing a name. Personally, I hope they do take some inspiration from the afternoon slot for the Sky News Today slots.

I was surprised to hear Sarah-Jane Mee pop up on 5 Live this morning, standing in for Helen Skelton. I didn't realise she worked for the BBC as well.

It's not unusual for a non-BBC news presenter to pitch up on 5 Live as a stand-in presenter; I recall Krishnan Guru-Murthy doing likewise a while back.

Surprised they didn't use Sky News Today as the breakfast hours programme, it'd be matching with their American sister network's morning name.

Or not? The Sarah-Jane Mee Show graphics have been used for the last hour and Sarah-Jane Mee is referring to the show as such.

How can Sky News not get the schedule correct on listings? It’s almost as if there’s a deliberate attempt to not call it “The Sarah-Jane Mee Show”. But why? If it’s called that on air, call it as such on the guides, I don’t get the reasons not too? The programme is on Sky News - it’s not as if people are going to be confused to the content. I mean it’s hardly the most pressing concern, but feels clumsy.

The rest of the week has dropped ‘Today’ for the 2-4:30 slot, just Sky News with Sarah-Jane Mee, apart from Friday is now “Sky News Today with Belle Donati”. So I assume The Sarah-Jane Mee Show name continues but feels like there was a deliberate attempt to remove presenter names from other areas of the schedule…

Whilst talking about this, the 11pm hour is another one that lacks a proper ‘title’. Different presenters fumble over what the slot is… I also can’t help but hate the way the have the papers rotating on the side bar during that hour now, so unnecessary.

After all that, they seem to have kept 'The Sarah Jane Mee Show' (and indeed the 'News at One') - maybe SJM wasn't happy at losing her branding!

Ian King must have not fully got the memo regarding the recent schedule changes!
