So it's the same set, lit in new colours and with different camera angles.
I do like the music, glad they kept it. It's quite calming in a weird way.
Not a fan of the graphics, feels like a downgrade. Also the headlines felt way too long.
Glad they haven't been given the SRF Tagesschau look, I think their studios are god awful. Like a hotel check-in, trapped in a glass box guarded by Daleks. I half expect Blofeld to walk into shot while stroking his cat.
And whose idea was it to add in a carpet?

It's the end of an era at Prime TV in New Zealand as from tomorrow, the channel becomes Sky Open and its news programme Prime News becomes simply News First.
Here's a look at the final Prime News.

I really like it! A very subtle modernisation. The theme has been updated slightly but the minor key element in the middle of the intro is brilliant, just wish they had taken that idea a little further. Top work from arguably the best of the Swiss public broadcasters.

Just to be clear, apart from the graphics I also really like what RTS have done with the music. The studio also looks nice lit in blue.
My critique was directed towards the German speaking SRF studio, of which I have linked a photo below

Absolutely. The SRF set is definitely a bit ‘different’. I actually think their set has the potential to be quite impressive but they need to allow the smart glass to be more transparent to create depth and a bit of interest. As for the carpet, yeah that’s just weird!

And the computer plonked on the desk...
Surely they could have integrated that better.

Don't know if this is the right place but I've come across a pair of documentaries by someone called Connor Higgins about a show made by FX in the USA called Breakfast Time which was an Americanised version of The Big Breakfast:

Apologies if I ask this, but I have noticed that at the very end of the forecast, they also show the weather for the Pacific Islands and for Eastern Australia, it makes me wonder is Sky Open (and indeed all the other NZ TV channels) is receivable in these areas

Newshub does this as well. Worth noting News First is produced by Newshub teams since 2015, after a contract with Sky News Australia expired and was not renewed.

As for the NZ TV channels reception in the Pacific Islands, there is a government initiative called Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited (Pasifika TV) which distributes NZ and foreign-produced programming from TVNZ, Three, Sky, Whakaata Māori, RNZ and legislature broadcasters. TVNZ formerly offered and provided this service before 2016, when oversight switched to direct government oversight (and expanded to offer shows provided by commercial broadcasters). The initiative doesn't distribute full TV and radio signals, but does offer a wide range of content, including news programming from TVNZ and Newshub, as well as Sky Sport rights. It is also not related to the Tagata Pasifika newsmagazine, which is an independent production which receives funding from TVNZ, NZ On Air and Te Mangai Pāho.
