Normally if it’s not aired at the bulletins normal time then it would be just “RTE News” - the late Saturday bulletin is incidentally usually billed as “RTE News and Sport” rather than “RTE News: Nine O’Clock” for this exact reason. (Though it’s actually scheduled for 9pm tonight in somewhat of an aberration).

You’re correct, the actual graphic leading into the lunchtime news is “RTE News” when it doesn’t air at 1 but it’s still billed as the “RTÉ One O’Clock News” on the EPG and it’s filed with the One O’Clock News on the RTÉ Player.

Sinead Crowley is leaving RTÉ News in September. She has been doing other work as a crime novelist outside of the newsroom.

I’ll be sad to see her go. She’s been an excellent Arts and Media correspondent for the past 17 years. It was great to have a fluent Irish speaker in that role and she was always personable and warm on screen. She’s been on air quite a lot recently between the RTÉ payments controversy and Sinéad O’Connor’s sad death this week.

There's been a small update made to RTÉ News studio 3 from today. The studio has a new desk with multicoloured lighting installed with a single chair beside it.

It is located in what used to be the small couch area of Studio 3.

Other news today, Sharon Tobin has been permanently appointed as the co-host of the Six-One News replacing Caitriona Perry. Also Ray Kennedy has been been appointed as co-host of the Nine O’Clock News rotating with Sharon Ní Bheoláin. He replaces Eileen Dunne nearly a year after she retired.

Presume it also changed on the same day - but the change made to the headline sequence / titles for Six One and the Nine at the last revamp where the O’Donnell Abu sting was played separately after the first headline, then the rest of the headlines before the rest of the titles, has been reverted back to the entire titles, O’Donnell Abu and all, being played after all of the headlines. (The One never changed in the first place, for some reason).
