Nothing new with ITV skipping the early evening bulletin due to live sport but over 12 hours from one bulletin to the next on the same day must be a record with today's bulletins at 11.20am and 11.25pm.
Could have easily fit one in between the two evening games as happens tomorrow and next Saturday.

Weekend news is not a priority for ITV anymore - so they can easily drop a bulletin here or there - I am still surprised they even bother with the 8.20am bulletin on Saturday and Sundays, a bulletin which harks back to the 1990s BBC era, where they provided a bare bones basic 5 minute news summary to fulfil their weekend breakfast news output.

The infamous Diana Edwards-Jones directing there. ITN through and through - having started in a junior position in 1955 and working her way up to the senior director - but she is most remembered for her colourful use of language in the gallery!

Legend has it a poem was pinned to a wall in the newsroom that went:
Did you ever hear the dulcet tones
Of Miss Diana Edwards Jones?
Miss "F***ing this"
And "F**ing that"
And "Don't be such a f***ing t**t!"

Haha, I could well imagine. I've heard a mix tape colleagues did of her back in the day which is hilarious!

A bit of an abrupt end to the ITV Evening News just now. After coming back from the final report, Lucrezia had just enough time to say goodbye before it faded to the copyright card - no details of the News at Ten, no pan across the studio with the music and credits etc. The sponsorship sting for the weather then aired straight away, with Becky not in the studio (which I think is common practice for shortened evening bulletins).

They were probably overrunning. They have set times for their ad breaks and had to ensure Emmerdale finished well in time for 7:30pm with the rugby being live.

Just to add, there is a set ad break pattern but not set times due to the nature of news. The programme PA and TX in Chiswick agree clock times and on/off air times a short while before tx. TX will also confirm the number and duration of breaks and also, most importantly, if certain of those breaks must be ‘away’ before a certain time to keep within the COSTA rules. Just for info.
