Could be a sign that all of Das Erste's news programmes is about to get a new look.

Also, Caren Miosga will moderate her final tagesthemen tonight. This is her final interview before the show, in the tagesschau24 temporary setup (?) Why do they have that desk though, I thought they had something similar to the ones in the main studio.

It has to do more with a long-term plan by ARD-aktuell director Marcus Bornheim to increase the number of live hours aired by the channel, and at the same time share more resources with the main programmes and the digital teams. Since April, the channel has aired continuously live programming from 5:30 (when the Morgenmagazin starts) up until 0:30 (including a simulcast of tagesthemen and the late Tagesschau).

She's replacing Anne Will (another former tagesthemen anchor) on the Sunday late night political show (long occupied previously by Sabine Christiansen and Günther Jauch) from next year. The show will be produced from Berlin by RBB and Miosga's production company. Jessy Wellmer will occupy her post as Tagesschau co-host.

A look at Spanish RTVE 24 Horas' new graphics. Not sure if it launched the same time as La Noche en 24h or just recently, as NewscastStudio has just done a piece on it (www.newscaststudio.com ). The new graphics was designed by local agency Visualzink.

The graphics launched on the same day the new studio launched

It launched at the same time indeed; the opens for the newscasts were rolled that same overnight, but the opens for its magazine-style shows were slowly rolled out during the following months, with the parliamentary shows being the last to adopt them, just recently. However, the straps had been on-air for a while: they launched when Telediario rebranded in early 2021.

Visualzink's website has just been recently relaunched and has a long case study on the new look:

visualzink.com

Visualzink also did the 2021 Telediario rebrand, as seen here:

visualzink.com

They also did the previous 2014 graphics, which were strongly criticised due to these being a suspected rip-off of RTÉ News' graphics at the time, alongside these being constantly botched by the in-house news teams; the opening titles was also remade many times, but still with some consistency, given these went in the line of the 2012 open designed by Ana Zelich for Mediapro. That look also coincided with a dark period for them, given viewer figures and credibility levels were in its historic lows ever, hence the new look being commissioned:

I know RBB are finding cost savings at the moment, after the costly mess made by their previous chair, but switching from producing 10 editions of the lunchtime news magazines per month (which MDR will take over from next year, alternating with ZDF each week) to producing a 4 editions of a weekly news magazine per month is a notable cost saving.

After only a year, TG1, the flagship newscast of Italian Rai 1 introduced a new "simplified" open, based on the one already used on TG1 Mattina:

What Rai needs is revolution, rather than the many evolutions that TG1 has had. The music is a big step backwards from renditions in recent years, maybe it's about time they scrapped it?
