I agree, but a 7 minute general news bulletin is not that either. It'd actually be better if that bulleting didn't contain the election news at the top since it's being covered in detail for the rest of the hour.

It comes back to who's it for, and the answer is seemingly not the viewer.

But if they were watching that channel on a non election night they would get weather. Just because it's election night it doesn't mean people aren't interested in the weather

That Set is just poor, and you can tell its fake as hell. Maybe for the General they could use the Studio B? Is that possible?

For the Radio4/5Live coverage, I wonder why they didn't use the Nicky Campbell studio, considering it has been refurbed for 'Visual Radio' I would say it is down to size but just seems a strange choice.

This is a bit all over the place. Left aligned text, centre aligned text, the copyright is tiny and in the corner and the Albert logo is just stuck in the empty space, plus the BBC and News on either side of the screen.

I think the news bulletins are more useful during the General Election coverage when they are used to summarise the main developments so far - which is useful when the main programme is breathlessly going between declarations, guests and talking heads.

The summary can highlight the main headlines and things you might've missed (eg any Portillo moments, what's happening in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and any significant comments from the parties).

I agree they are much less useful in this coverage though, which has been much less fast-paced.

Yes, I recorded a little bit of it on my phone here up.metropol247.co.uk

The right ear is FM and the left ear is LW

In the past, only LW would take the Shipping Forecast but last night the forecast was on both LW and FM.
I assume it's because the separate LW schedule has now been discontinued.

At school they taught me how to be
So pure in thought and word and deed
They didn't quite succeed...

They should just bring over Jim Maxwell for the general election night

I take it there will be two different feeds on the BBC News channel tomorrow afternoon?

I do apologise I've just released there were using Studio B, the same as news at six and ten.

I think there have done a rather poor job using the space to its full potential for this election programme. You just have to look at ITV election broadcast and how they managed to give its news studio a bit of life.
