BBC News Pres: Apr 2023 - Jun 2024 (BBC News Channel/BBC One)

BBC 1 broke into News about the GE, Seems the GE thread was deleted for some reason though, this forum isn't the fastest at responding to things.

It still exists, but is currently locked.

The coverage started with the graphics displaying that July 4th would be the date, however after a few minutes it was changed to “expected in the summer”.

4th July hasn’t been mentioned by the presenters, just shown on screen.

Surely the BBC shouldn’t show a date until it has been officially announced.

Thats sort of what I mean, BBC 1 has crashed into live coverage of it and the thread is still locked. Now is a good time mods to open her up Smile

We will decide if and when a new dedicated thread is needed as the focus of the forum is on channel presentation not the political news stories as per the rules. While very strongly suspected at the moment the election still hasn't yet been officially announced, and there are no pres elements which aren't coverable in the current channel threads as no pres has really changed.

Now enough discussion around moderation on the forum, back to discussing BBC News - if there is anything to discuss. Smile

I think after the last year BBC News actually needs this - will hopefully give them a chance to shine if they make the right calls, which obviously includes significant UK opt outs during the day.

As well as longer opt out blocks this is an event where holding back more detailed coverage to the back half hour could work too with a joint News bulletin on the hour then something like "Election Report" in the back half hour when World opts out.

So the circle is based on the current globe? At a glance, it doesn`t seem to have that strong connection to the master brand by Lambie Nairn.

Something that i noticed is that the work between the three designers follow different paths which is bad for consistency. Rich Sutton seems the one who better mixed the 2008 look and colours with the guidelines of Wolff Olins.

If the circles were animated like pulsating rings, it will at least have a link to the 1999 rebrand
Those are the small details that would changed how the brand would be seen by us. Instead: MS Office 365 Powerpoint animations

Of course the umbrella that Rita is holding in Downing Street is using the Gill Sans BBC News logo (not boxed though). Maybe an excuse for all the branding to be brought into line on the horrizon?

A purely non political point: But does Downing Street not have umbrellas? Sunak looked quite pitiful bring drenched by the rain, didn't he?
