The BBC thought the game was over too, to be fair. The commentator said the full time whistle had gone and the scorebar had been removed. A few moments later it was revealed to be a VAR check.

But at least they hadn't gone back to the pundits....

At the start of TF1's post-game pundit show, Denis Brogniart has apologized in the name of TF1's sports department.

Imagine if ITV had done what TF1 did.

To TF1's credit, they DID wait for the final whistles to go to commercials, the commentator even acknowledging it. But it's still an unforgivable mistake. They'll probably wait a little longer from now on.

They continued playing after the VAR decision, so they can’t have waited for the final whistle.

And will likely encourage Fifa to have a way to make sure a very late VAR decision is not mistaken for Half Time(Where broadcasters tend cut to adverts even quicker) /Full Time. I mean in the Bundesliga once the Players were called back after the half time whistle to take a penalty www.theguardian.com

After the Morocco goalkeeper swap a second error in official communication confusing broadcasters worldwide.

I wondered how many identical sets the BBC have got in Qatar

The answer may be 3 as for tonight’s 4th BBC game, the only day where the BBC are showing all 4 games, Alex Scott is presenting from an plain studio box sat on stools

I thought it might have been the S4C set up, but S4C aren’t using stall versions of standard issue TV seats.

Apparently the final whistle came before VAR. Thus why France is currently looking to cancel the referee's VAR cancellation of their last minute goal.

But then they played for a good minute or so after that?
