Back in the day when we have Viva and TMF you'd have exactly the same "problem", it isn't anything new with the music channels.
Pretty sure MTV used to do something like "non stop video hits" scheduled at some time when they hadn't even finished the previous "programme" Top 20 Chart Countdown or whatever. The EPG would tick over and you'd still have two or three songs to go.
But that of course was when MTV was more free flowing with its schedule, before it started airing the likes of Cribs, which forces it into a regular schedule.
