And France 2's and France 3's newscasts are airing from the so-called cagibi, which is the nickname to a small flash cam studio installed next to the master control room of France Télévisions' channels. This studio is used by all newscasts during industrial action, regardless of channel.

France 3's regional newscasts are airing in a grand région basis, that means, instead of the 24 regional and 44 local editions, these have been exceptionally merged into 11 big areas serving one or more regional administrations. Some areas might get the Édition Toutes Régions which airs on the France 3 Régions satellite channel.

Franceinfo soir wasn't aired this evening, a loop of news with a voiceover went out until France 24 took over at midnight.

France Télévisions' news director Alexandre Kara has been interviewed by Le Figaro (paywall), and has confirmed Anne-Sophie Lapix has been renewed for another contract. Additionally, he has confirmed a new smaller set is on the works.

The other catch of the interview is the decision to drop the evening weather bulletin, saying "it's outdated". Kara is working on a long form daily climate show (sic) which would include the standard weather report, but would also include environmental and climate news, similar to France 3's Météo à la carte, but with less presence of patrimonial and cultural features.

He also talked about the so-called Projet Tempo to replace France 3's existing newscasts, alongside Franceinfo's recent programming changes.

Franceinfo TV had no live news bulletins during the day until 4pm. I'm not sure if there's industrial action at France Télévisions today or staff shortages. La Matinale went out as normal complete with a steadycam operator along with the Radio France produced Franceinfo 8.30.

Don't know about today in particular but news bulletins have been affected on France 2 and 3 to varying degrees throughout the past few weeks ever since protests and strikes started on the 19th against pension reform in France.

Separately, the January ratings are out:
BFM TV : 2,7% (-0,1 compared with Jan 2022)
CNEWS : 2,2% (+0,1)
LCI : 2% (+0,8)
franceinfo : 0,7% (-0,1)

Due to industrial action, the first live bulletin on Franceinfo was at 1100 CET with Flore Maréchal.

Midi Politique was extended until 1310 and then reverted back to the pre-recorded loop of news and filler.

An update on Project Tempo, the rebuilding of France 3's news offerings. The France Télévisions' arm of the Force Ouvrière union published a document with a much better look at what might become the definitive plans for the relaunched broadcasts. The biggest thing: the 12/13 and 19/20 brands will be retained, although tweaked as Ici 12/13 and Ici 19/20; the 2019 graphics are also staying, also tweaked.

For the 12/13 slot, it would be reduced to a half-hour, but eventually staying with its hybrid local/national format: a first block would serve as a headline update, followed by Le Journal des Solutions (the existing 18.30 programme) and then the longer composite broadcast. The Sunday Ici 12/13 will have a reduced duration due to Dimanche en politique. The 19/20 will become a fully regional slot: after a headline update, the local editions (formerly 12/13 Proximité) would air and then the main broadcast.

Here's the full document (in French). It also dives deeper on how France 3 plans to outsource national news coverage from Franceinfo, and how technical and editorial positions would be reorganised.

BFM TV overnight mainstay Rachid M'Barki has been suspended. He is being accused of interfering with the broadcaster's editorial process, after airing some reports during Le Journal de la Nuit who weren't confirmed under normal circumstances.

One year after the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, TMC will air on February 24 an extended version of the documentary TF1 produced in 2020 to mark his departure from the 13h news. The extended cut will begin with a never before seen 15 minute interview from director Michel Izard to JPP; this will be followed immediately by the original documentary.
