French TV - News Discussion

A very clinical Telematin-esque look.

Much prefer the previous green screen set to this one.

More generally, I think that ITV's mid-2000s green screen set was much nicer. I think more physical elements (I'm pretty sure the floor on M6's one is a green mat) along with a less clinical look would make it nicer and more anchored in believability.

Some old weather presentation on Franceinfo earlier when they aired an INA package about climate change using library footage.

It's nice that at least one French news channel can still have fun occasionally.

As mentioned previously, weather presenter Chloé Nabédian left France Télévisions in December 2022 to become a freelance documentary maker and author.

Here is her final forecast along with a farewell message from the 15th December on France 3.

France Info is temporarily moving to a virtual set in Studio E at France TV HQ. They will broadcast from the temporary set in June.

Also their rivals at BFM TV are planning on moving to Studio A at Altice Campus from the start of the new season/rentrée

It looks like they're trying to keep the current outdoor view from the studio and still looks similar to the newsroom set even if the desk has a different shape.

Hopefully they'll still be able to do steadycam shots and stand-up explainers?

Maybe this confirms that Franceinfo are getting a new set for later in the year - they've been using the same set since they launched in 2016 so will be interesting to see what the new set looks like when it's ready.

*BFMTV will be moving to the studio A at Altice Campus (Premiere Edition/BFM Politique) from the start of May in order for them to revamp their current main studio in time for la rentree scolaire.

With regards to franceinfo's temporary studio, someone in the know's LinkedIn post claims that it's only for a few days in June for a technical update for the channel whilst Franceinfo's head still says that there'll be something new and exciting to look out for in September.

Marc-Olivier Fogiel defends his channel's ban on the term 'police brutality' by saying the term has political connotations, thus justifying his decision to refuse calling a spade a spade under the cover that BFMTV may be accused of having a certain political ideology if the term is used.

Also with regards to the new studio the current studio will be disassembled from May for the revamp to be ready by the first week of September. Confirmation that everything will be broadcast from the PE studio today.

Here's what he said about what the new studio will be like which I won't translate given that it's marketing-style information which gives us very little idea of what the studio will actually be like!
Quote:L'année prochaine, le plateau 2 sera refait intégralement dans le souci de progresser dans la façon de raconter l'information, de recourir à des infographies et de l'immersion mais surtout de parler à tout le monde.

LCI seems to have refreshed its coming up newsbar which now displays images. Not the prettiest thing in my opinion.
