Well I think doing what they do with the News Hour is the way to go, it’s “The News Hour with Mark Austin” on screen, on titles, listings etc but when Mark isn’t there it’s just the “The News Hour”.
Kay’s programme has always been rather odd as they never actually call it “Kay Burley” but that’s the way it’s listed and branded. Kay never welcomes people to ‘Kay Burley’ or do other presenters call it as such. So when Jayne Secker or Anna Jones etc are filling in, there’s a big background displaying “Kay Burley” but no one actually mentions the programme title, or indeed that they’re covering for Kay.
When Sarah-Jane’s away there’s the rather odd introduction of “This is the Sarah-Jane Mee Show. I’m Kimberley Leonard” which sounds rather ridiculous but at least they’ve made reference that they’re not Sarah-Jane! On the note I wonder if they continue to present to 2pm-5pm mostly with Standing presentation or if it’s going to revert to behind mostly sat down at the desk since all three daytime programmes are sharing a name. Personally, I hope they do take some inspiration from the afternoon slot for the Sky News Today slots.
