Oh come on, it's always important to have the paper review in a programme like this.

Why?

Interesting to see Rob Burl criticise the decision to put Joe Lycett on.  Although Rob was often incorrectly assumed to be responsible for Question Time, there have been highly questionable bookings on Politics Live etc over the years.
It’ll probably Jim Davidson next week to balance it out.

Because the Sunday papers are an institution full stop. Not everyone watches the news channel at 11.30pm or breakfast on a Sunday.

It always makes for interesting conversation.

What does that say about a channel if it scares fish? Just talk me through that.

It's alarming (and also wonderful) how well that Lorraine music fits with the titles for the new show

Did anybody else have the urge to start singing Take That's "Could It Be Magic" or was it just me?

Mixed views on the new show. Branding, studio and music was alright - though I don't particularly understand the dominance of blue in the studio when it is absent in the rest of the branding. Kuenssberg was as expected - a decent presenter, but hardly the most incisive interviewer and wouldn't be my first choice. I'm not particularly bothered by the loss of the news summary or weather, which I've long felt were rather redundant, and am pleasantly surprised by the absence of the paper review. Not sure about the panel discussion, though - might take some warming to. I'd rather have a more analysisy/expert segment that discussed policy rather than soap opera. Fundamentally, an acceptable successor.

Not sure, though, whether it is a good sign that the main talking point from the programme is a bunch of confected pearl-clutching from Westminster types about the presence of Lycett on the panel. No idea why he is less worthy of being there than opinion columnists, especially considering his status as a consumer rights champion - which surely gives him more insight to the main issue than a lot of the tedious pundit class.

The problem with the music, it’s just all seems like a bed rather something memorable. We were expecting a nod to On The Record, but that’s literally all it is, a nod to a much better complete sounding theme tune.

With regards to lack of news update or weather I wonder if the loss of these may be a minor cost saving. Similarly by using B it means they don't require camera operators in the studio, compared to using 54D.

The Liz Truss interview was noticeably long, probably due to being an exclusive / major interview. It'll be interesting to see what if anything is different format wise next week.

Also, longer term I wonder if the news channel merges whether this will be simulcast as a UK opt-out.
